I’m a fairly web-savvy gal (I’m into social media, web 2.0 apps, open-source blogs, etc.) and a friend of mine wants me to help him with his Google AdWords business. I would like to hear from people who have used this method to grow their business, I am looking to start internet marketing and would like to try pay per click but am not sure which company to go through, Yahoo, Google, etc.
I want to come up when people search to bring in more clients.

I’m having trouble promoting my website. I provide a good service at good price, and the market isn’t very flooded with other merchants (I make custom cross stitch patterns from people’s pictures). Pay-per-click through Google gained lots of clicks, but no buys – so I pretty much threw away money. Any tips on website promotion, either through pay-per-click or other means?

Depends on what you mean by Pay Per Click… does Google AdSense count?

I’d say about a week of reading and studying, learning how to read and analyze the reports to study your best techniques and adapt your strategies, that sort of thing.

Then, up to three months to really build up the traffic. It really depends on the topics of the websites you’re building… sometimes, just the right current event in the news will trigger a large number of searches on the keywords you’re targeting, and that’s money in the bank.
